The hi-tech stuff
All you need to benefit from Tweezy is a device with an internet connection. This could be a classroom PC, a laptop with an "internet dongle", an I-pad
connected to your wireless at home or even a smart phone in your pocket. Although you wouldn't notice it the software has been designed to make using it
easy on the small screen of these devices. Naturally we can't test it on every smart phone or every style of tablet PC but we have tested with the most popular
devices. You may be interested to know that our research shows that one can even buy refridgerators with internet connection now - WHY?!
For most people this is probably all you need to know about our technology but incase you were wondering we have provided some techy speak below.
Tweezy is written 100% in the Java programming language and is
therefore independent of the operating system used. Tweezy Online is a
multi-user system, which allows any number of concurrent users
over the Internet. No software download or installation is
required on the client side. Tweezy uses JSP forms based on the
definitions of business objects and adjusts the forms when the database
definitions change. This rules out human error factor or failing to
implement a change everywhere that it's required.
Tweezy uses JDBC to communicate with an SQL-compliant database
management software and is therefore independent of the specific
database used. We are currently using the Derby db engine but may
switch to MySQL as it's a non-case sensitive engine. Database tables
are altered automatically if data schema changes. Database
transactions are maintained automatically.
Database SQL queries are automatically constructed from definitions of
our own queries. These definitions are at a higher level of abstraction
than SQL and include, in particular, links between objects, which are
automatically converted into dataase table joins. Tweezy employs
non-procedural rule-based approach to data processing (business logic)
instead of scripting or programming. At the heart of this approach is
Rete algorithm-based rule engine.
Data stored in Tweezy is protected in many different ways. Firstly, our
servers are stored in a secure location safe from theft or fire. On and off
site backups are maintained. To gain access to the database you need to
have a user account on our servers. When you type in your username and
password it is transmitted to our server via an encrypted connection for
verification. Your Tweezy account uses the same technology as your online
banking service or any other portal such as government websites.
Our high performance rack mounted servers are housed in a fully climate
controlled room to ensure optimum temperature, humidity and
environment. To protect against flood there is a raised floor system. To
protect against fire the is an advanced FM200 Fire Suppression System.
They run on dual filtered power feeds with multiple Uninterruptible Power
Supply (UPS) to ensure your service is online 24x7. Multiple stand by
generators that will kick in the event of power failure. Our facility is
protected by CCTV plus multiple intruder systems. These servers connect
to the Internet via Ultra high speed multiple Tier 1 connections giving fast
access to your data from around the world
